Le Petit Clocher du Portalet se situe sur la partie Suisse du massif du Mont-Blanc. Cette flèche de granite offre trois faces verticales extraordinaires. Chacune mesure environ 250 mètres et sa face nord est la plus impressionnante des trois.
Le Petit Clocher a été gravi pour la première fois en 1897 par les guides Maurice Crettez et Emile Revaz. Depuis lors, le Petit Clocher n'a cessé depuis d'être le théâtre d'exploits verticaux. Chaque génération de grimpeur y a trouvé un véritable terrain de jeu. Et l'aventure n'est pas terminée. Son granite franc et coupé au couteau, qui semble sortir tout droit de terre et qui n'a subit ni l'érosion des glaciers ni celle de l'eau, est ce qui caractérise le plus le Petit Clocher. Rares sont les autres lieux dans le monde à offrir un tel granite. Marco Pedrini a même eu l'audace de s'écrier, après la deuxième ascension de la voie "Etat de Choc" : "N'allez plus au Yosemite, mais courrez au Petit Clocher du Portalet !"
Le Petit Clocher du Portalet comporte une vingtaine de voies. Toutes ont leur exigence et leur caractère, bien que la voie normal soit largement accessible ainsi que l'une ou l'autre voie, dont la fameuse "sud-est". Ce site est dédié à ce Joyau des Alpes, au service de ce qu'il convient certainement de nommer "l'expérience du Petit Clocher".

„Poprvé jsem se do cesty podíval před pěti lety během našeho prvního výjezdu s týmem Sokolíků. Místo i lezení mě tenkrát úplně nadchly, ale zároveň jsem z toho byl dost vykulený. Myslím, že to byla moje první pořádná zkušenost s frendy… A se spárami to tehdy také nebyla žádná hitparáda,“ vzpomíná Tomáš Lukášek. Řeč je o cestě „Ave Caesar“ (7c, 200 m) na věž Petit Clocher du Portalet. Tom se letos po dlouhém čekání do cesty konečně vrátil. Jak mu to šlo? A hrála roli i hlava, nebo to bylo hlavně fyzické? „Zajistit šlo všechno dobře, takže co se týče strachu, tam problém nebyl. Fyzicky byly jednotlivé délky taky v pohodě. Hlavní bylo spíš vydržet dohromady fyzicky i hlavou celé nacvičování a pak hlavně v den pokusu,“ hodnotí Tom, kterého na fotce najdeš ve vrchní části uprostřed s rozkročenými nohami, jak bojuje ve druhém 7c. Gratulujeme k parádnímu výkonu!

Není to nejtěžší cesta, kterou jsem kdy vylezl, ale rozhodně je pro mě tou nejhodnotnější. 🔝
Upřímně jsem s přelezem moc nepočítal. V den pokusu jsem ale nechal ve stěně úplně všechno – a ono to vyšlo. 😁
Bylo to tvrdé. Bylo to krásné. Děkuju. Děkuju, že jsem to mohl zažít, a hlavně děkuju holkám za neskutečnou podporu a za to, že do toho šly se mnou. 🙏

Ave Caesar je převážně spárová vícedélka na Petit Clocher du Portalet v masivu Mont Blancu. Má 8 délek o obtížnosti 6b+, 6b+, 6c, 7b+, 6c, 7c, 7c, 6b+. Co se týče jištění, kromě vrtaných štandů jsou v cestě jen 4 nýty (plus několik nýtů v prvních dvou délkách, které jsou společné pro více cest v severní stěně).

Aujourd’hui, avec Aurel, nous sommes montés au Petit Clocher du Portalet.
La journée s’annonçait nuageuse, ce qui nous convenait parfaitement pour les 1 500 mètres de dénivelé positif avant d’attaquer la partie escalade. L’itinéraire comportait plusieurs longueurs faciles et un passage plus technique en 6a, juste ce qu’il faut pour rendre l’approche intéressante.
Au sommet, le départ était particulièrement confortable et les conditions de vol optimales. S’en est suivi un long vol où il fallait conserver vitesse et finesse pour rejoindre le fond de la vallée.
Une de ces journées où tout s’enchaîne naturellement, entre montagne, escalade et vol.

The granite of the Petit Clocher du Portalet has to be the best in the Alps.
Clean cut faces, arêtes, corners and some perfectly splitter cracks ranging from tips to off-width monsters.
Etat de Choc is incredible. And whilst the off-width of pitch 4 gets a lot of publicity, the route has a bit of everything, with the 6c corner on pitch 5 being my personal favourite.

État de Choc is probably the best and steepest 7a crack climb in Europe. Opened by the Rémy brothers in 1983, it’s an exceptional route, offering everything from finger cracks to offwidths.
On June 28, g.chshukin with georgezhuravlev and aleksandr_kormushin climbed this piece of Yosemite in the Swiss Alps.
